Straight from Curitiba – 4/14/2019 – 373 day of resistance – 6 PM

1. Solidarity with former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva grows every day. In all of the regions of the country, thousands of Brazilians have denounced the political imprisonment of the ex-President. On this Sunday, April 14th, carioca activists placed a gigantic banner on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro with the phrase, “Free Lula Livre”. 2. This Sunday morning, April 14th, was filled with music and singing in Curitiba to celebrate the happiness of activism, in accordance with the teachings of Lula. The “Good morning, President Lula,” shout was led by supporters from Florianopolis who came from Santa Catarina to bring their solidarity to the Vigil and to the former President. 3. During the afternoon the democratic resistance in Curitiba welcomed activists as they arrived from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco. The comrades from the Black and Indigenous Woman's Collective participated in all of the activities today. In addition to them, the Vigil also welcomed supporters from Canada and the USA, who reinforced the international solidarity with the ex-President and the Lula Livre movement. 4. The “Good afternoon, President Lula,” shout was joined by activists from the São Paulo Service Workers Union. Comrade Lima spoke in the name of the organization and thanked the activists for their “beautiful reception”. According to the union leader, we need to explain to all Brazilians that the struggle for freedom for Lula is the struggle for rights for all of the workers in the country, whose rights are being steamrolled over by the right wing Bolsonaro government. Lima also said that the resistance against pension reform will be strengthened by the release of the former President.
