1. Internationally prized Mozambican author Mia Couto wrote a letter to former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva through the Letters for Lula  website. Short, lovely and strong, the message evokes a haiku: “My friend Lula: In the darkness they hid who had faces. In the silence they walled over those who had a voice. Now all that is left is a Brazil that you can only listen to in shouts that nobody hears.” Mia Couto has published books in over 22 countries and has received many international awards. Several letters of solidarity have been written to Lula by other personalities as well. See more here: https://cartasprolula.com.br/

2. The MST in Bahia organized its activists to denounce the political imprisonment of Lula and defend his freedom. From tomorrow, April 10th, to the 17th, there will be a state Lula Livre march with at least 3000 members of the MST. The march will go from Camaçari to Salvador and it is part of the Lula Livre journey, which started last Sunday, April 7th. In addition to the demand to free Lula, the Landless Workers of the MST are marching to defend agrarian reform and against the loss of human and social rights sponsored by the right wing Bolsonaro government. 4. Former President Lula sent a handwritten letter congratulating Congressman Zeca Dirceu (PT-Paraná) for his work, last week, in a public hearing in Congress on the theme of pension reform, with the presence of Minister of the Economy Paulo Guedes. Lula called Guedes the “destroyer of the poor” and praised the Congressman for calling the Minister a darling of the businessmen. 5. Exactly 6 years ago, on April 9th, 2013, Lula and Bono Vox met in London. During a long conversation, they spoke about Bolsa Familia, food security, hunger in Africa and, of course, football, which is a passion of both men. “I am here with someone you think is a national treasure. But in reality he is  global treasure,” said Bono in a video. The U2 vocalist proposed joining forces with the Lula Institute and Bono's NGO, ONE, to spread information about and stimulate programs to fight hunger and extreme poverty in Africa.
